TURKEY: After 14 times I still want to go

Among all my travels, Turkey remains one of my favorite destinations, this place has my heart and will have it forever because I feel like home there. I visited different cities such as Istanbul, Antalya, Bodrum, Marmaris, Kemer, Pamukkale, Kusadasi… in this post I will just share the best of my 14 times in this magnificent country with various cultures, then I will let you the opportunity to choose what look nice there.

Turkey is a European country, an Asian country, a Middle Eastern country, a Balkan country, a Caucasian country, a neighbor to Africa, Black Sea country, Caspian Sea, all these.” Ahmet Davutoglu

First of all, there are some things you should absolutely know about Turkey: (for those who don’t know)

  • Istanbul isn’t the capital of Turkey, I have seen many people who think that. The capital is ANKARA.
  • It’s a secular country, even if Islam is the largest religion, there are non-religious people and others religions. It’s not totally a Muslim country.
  • Arabic isn’t their language, they aren’t Arabs.
  • I never got an act of racism (maybe it exists there but never lived that)

BONUS 1

I contacted some of my Turks followers to have a description of their country and share with you:

A hospitable country with untouched nature, engraved in minds with its history and cuisine, accommodating different culture and beauty in every square meter...” -Hakan Avcı (thanks my friend)

A very beautiful place with a senior level of hospitality 🙂

Nice country, everything is beautiful, people are nice.

The most honorable and the most friendly people are the Turks

Hospitality, Good Service, Warm People, Beautiful Coasts and Sea

This country is full of precious things that always make me want to go back. I can’t get enough of everything I’m going to talk about.

Cuisine, landscapes and ambiance …

Turkish food is in my Top 5 after Ivorian, Italian, Japanese and Thaï, I love French Food too. Turkey has an amazing breakfast, I never wanna miss even one breakfast while there. It’s exceptional,  their excellent eggs cooked with turkish sausauge called “sucuk” and a kind of scrambled eggs with vegetables “menemen“.

On the morning table, there are always good fresh cheese, yogurt and tasty honey because Turkey is one of the biggest honey producers in the world, of olives too. I also love tea so I’m a big fan of turkish tea, served in a special tea pot.

Frequently used ingredients in Turkish specialties include lamb, beef, rice, fish, eggplants, green peppers, onions, garlic, lentils, beans, zucchinis and tomatoes. My favorite are Meze, Iskender Kebap, grilled fishes, meat bbq, I forgot the name of many others and baklava with kayma as dessert.

Hidden beach in Finike (Antalya)

At every corner of this country, there is something beautiful, some of them are breathtaking. I am always happy to be in gorgeous places with these natural and magnificient landscapes. I didn’t see the most beautiful but I loved what the nature already offered me to see.

Pamukkale

The famous one, I’m sure you always see this place in every travel account. Pamukkale (cotton castle), a natural site in Denizli, this area is famous for a carbonate mineral rich left by the flowing thermal water. Today, this place doesn’t look the same like years ago, the pools are drying up and the thermal waters are not really hot anymore.

There’s a difference between seeing in pictures and seeing with one’s eyes.
But It was fantastic, seeing, smelling the pools, and feeling the textures under one’s feet.

Kurşunlu Waterfall” a wonderful natural site

Kaputas beach in Kaş [Antalya]

And above all, the beaches, the first reason why I go to Turkey is for the incredible beaches they have, this is the most important hahaha. The country is blessed for the seaside. I love.

The Blue Turquoise Coast is famous for being the destination for blonde / white sands and brilliant turquoise waters for the beach lovers. It’s suitable and perfect to relax. Antalya and the surroundings are ideal. When it comes to sunsets in Turkey, the country provides the perfect pictures postcard scene, I’m always ready to capture every single moment of this time of the day.

This sunset took in Kaş was insane, the sky has changed from orange to a hundred shades of pink to a dark navy blue after 1hour, such a spectacle.

The Bosphorus Bridge

My first time in Turkey, I landed in the most populous city, Istanbul. People are friendly and there are many things to do like visit interesting places, party in nice clubs and eat very well in some good restaurants like Papermoon, Yali Balik (for seafood) and Nusr-Et [too famous and not the best one but food is very tasty and a good atmosphere reigns there]. Get a Kebap in Beşiktaş after clubbing is my ritual.

Istanbul City with the Galata Tower

This is a stunning spot in Istanbul, the beautiful colorful houses and this Genoese Tower, you can get a great panoramic view of the city from the top balcony.

During my time in Antalya, I visited «The Land of legends » located in Belek, an Aqua park with many activities to enjoy water waves in the heart of a lagoon, waterslides and rides, swim with water creatures, row your boat on a crazy river or catch the peace of water falls as you roll down in the boat, enjoy dolphin show or relax in a quiet lagoon.

I can add Kuşadası, a Cruise port and resort town near some greek islands. Can’t share everything with you otherwise I’ll make an album here.

Kuşadası

BONUS 2 : My travel plan for Turkey

Cappadocia and Fethiye are two exciting destinations I would like to visit because they look magical, but want to get an opportunity to go back to places I already visited.
